Neurorehabilitation and Robotics Laboratory in CUHK has recently developed a soft robotic hand. Over the past 10 years, Prof. Raymond Tong has made great strides in developing a wide range of rehabilitation devices. His innovative work on rehabilitation robot system "Hand of Hope" was the first Hong Kong invention to have received the grand prize in the 40-year history of the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva (2012), which has been licensed to Rehab–Robotics.
The mechanical design of such robot can perform limited hand functions. With advanced materials and 3D printing technology, a new Exoskeleton Soft Robot hand has been evolved. Soft robot hand is more comfortable, light weight and able to generate better hand function for daily activities.
