Austin Bryan joined CLP Holdings in May 2016 as Senior Director – Innovation, leading the company’s innovation strategy in the face of challenges presented by digital disruption. He is also a Director of various subsidiary companies of the CLP Group. Austin has been a pioneer of new services and value creation in the digital media sector for the past 10 years and is a globally recognised leader in transforming business activities in the financial and telecommunications sectors.
His experience spans the creation of the first direct banking activities in Germany in the early 1990s, the introduction of virtual customer service platforms for American Express and creation of the first 3G multi-media mobile network in Australia with “3 Mobile”. Most recently he was Vice President of Strategic Innovation at Singtel Optus, in which he led the acquisition of major digital media projects and created a US$1 billion digital media business developing and implementing new digital products and services.
Chibo Tang joined Gobi in 2009. He is based in Shanghai, and currently focuses on the consumer, sports, and media sectors in China. In Hong Kong, he helps to manage the Alibaba Hong Kong Entrepreneurs Fund, and travels frequently to meet with various startups related to the Alibaba ecosystem.
Chibo has accumulated extensive experience in professional services, local startups, and Fortune 500 companies. He started his career as a strategy consultant with Monitor Group, where he worked across ASEAN and MENA. He also gained valuable operations experience at DMG (a Gobi portfolio company), where he was VP-Corporate Development, and at Robert Bosch, where he was Senior Manager of Corporate Strategy in Asia Pacific.
Chibo received his B.A. in Applied Mathematics and Economics from Harvard University. He currently serves on the Board of the Harvard Club of Shanghai.
Denise is a seasoned general management professional. She is currently General Manager–Corporate Strategy in MTR Corporation, and is accountable for the Group’s strategy and has responsibilities over innovation initiatives. Prior to this role, Denise has worked in other management jobs in the field of audit, finance, communication, engineering and project management. Denise possesses degrees in engineering and business administration, is a Certified Internal Auditor and a Chartered Engineer.
Denise is the vice-chair of the Council of Island School, an international co-educational high school that is part of the English School Foundation.
Joe Lee, co-founder of Kuaidi Dache, was previously the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Strategy Officer of Kuaidi ONE under Kuaidi Dache. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Klover InsurTech. Born and raised in Hong Kong, Mr. Lee graduated from the University of Waterloo in Canada with Bachelor of Mathematics. After graduation, he worked in one of the Big Four Accounting Firms and became a certified public accountant in 1999. In 2008 he founded 96PK.com gaming portal and started to develop and publish internet games in Mainland China. In 2013 he founded Bumblebee Taxi which merged with Kuaidi Dache and became the Kuaidi Group. Mr. Lee joined the merged company and led its overall finance and development strategy. In 2013 he started the chauffeured car business in China and the taxi business in Greater China, including Kuaidi Taxi in Hong Kong. In 2015 Kuaidi Dache merged with Didi Dache and formed Didi-Kuaidi. In 2016, Mr. Lee started a new business – Klover InsurTech, which develops insurance products and channels through big data and block chain technology in China. The company raised USD 15M Series A from Banyan Capital and Matrix Partners China in January 2016.
Kuaidi Dache was launched in Hangzhou in May 2012. In April 2013, Kuaidi Dache raised USD 10M from Alibaba and Matrix Partners in Series A. In August of the same year Kuaidi Dache supported Alipay online payment and in September launched in Hong Kong as the first taxi hailing app from the Mainland. Kuaidi Dache acquired Bumblebee Taxi in November 2013. As of 10 January 2014 Kuaidi Dache recorded an average of 1.28M orders per day in Mainland, hitting the single day record high of 1.62M orders, in which transactions by Alipay had once recorded 600,000 orders in one day. On 15 January 2015 Kuaidi Dache raised funding of USD 600M led by Softbank, co-invested by Alibaba and Tiger Global. On 14 February 2015, Kuaidi Dache and Didi Dache announced their strategic merger and formed Didi-Kuaidi, and eventually became a brand under Didi Chuxing, which has a valuation of over USD 35 Billion.
Ms. Alice So has been dedicated to provide supports to Hong Kong start-ups more than 9 years. She joined Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited in 2011. Currently she is the lead of Cyberport Entrepreneurs Team offering the Cyberport Creative Micro Fund and the Cyberport Incubation Programme with funding support and professional services, to nurture talents and assist start-ups at different life stages to accelerate in the digital tech industry.
She is a Project Management Professional of Project Management Institute and a Senior Member of Hong Kong Institute of Marketing.
Peter Mok is the Head of Incubation Programmes, Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks Corporation. He has extensive experience in sales and marketing of technology products, corporate merger and acquisition, venture capital investment and C-Level executive recruitment. Peter is also responsible for the secretarial office of the Hong Kong Business Angel Network. Peter holds a BA(Hons) degree from HKU, an LL.B (Hons) from the University of London and an MBA from CUHK.
Richard is head of Freshfields IP and co-head of our TMT group in Asia and advises clients on standalone commercial and transactional projects, and contentious intellectual property matters.
His experience is wide-ranging extending from R&D collaborations, licensing and distribution/ supply arrangements to advice in the TMT space, including e-commerce, internet, media and e-health matters, and advice on data privacy and cyber security, encryption, advertising, labelling and consumer protection laws and regulations, in addition to his core practice in intellectual property.
